Hello Friends!
I hope you are loving this beautiful winter weather!
So, I was chatting to my husband the other day about what my next my blog topic should be. He looked up from his computer and said very simply: Change….write about change!
It is possible he said this because we are experiencing a lot of change as a family at the moment and some days are easier than others, and it is possible that this particular day was one of the not so easy days!
Now I love change to a certain extent…
I love changing my hair style, I love changing my hand bags, I love changing my look with scarves and hats, but alas that is not the type of change I am referring to today.
I know people who love and thrive on change and I know others who at the mere mention of a possible change start to break out in cold sweats. I fall somewhere in between the two extremes. I like change but then I also like the familiar. I know that change is not always comfortable but I also know that life is not always about comfort. I do know however, that more often than not change brings good growth into your life.
Change is a necessary part of life but not necessarily an easy part of life.
So, how do you handle change?
I am sure responses to this question would be varied indeed as some change is really hard to navigate especially if the circumstances around you are not positive. Be encouraged if you are in the midst of change that is not so great due to circumstances outside your control, you still have the power to respond with boldness & confidence. But the change I am talking about today is positive changes you need to make that will lead to healthy personal growth.
As a family, we are currently going through some big changes. We have gone from having toddlers to teenagers in the blink of an eye. If you have teenagers you will know that things change when you have teenagers in the house!
We are also moving house and towns as my husband and I take on new roles within our church as Campus Pastors (for those who may not know – my husband & I are also Pastors!)
I have lived in the same city all my life and now we are moving to a whole new location. Sure, it’s not like we are moving to the other side of the world, but it is all relative!
As a family we have decided to embrace this season of change. At the beginning of our change journey, I may have freaked out for a moment or two….or more! But once I got my head around it, I started to embrace the change season and now feel completely at peace with all that is ahead and am very excited at the unknown of this new adventure.
As part of the Confidence Mentoring Sessions I run, encouraging positive change is a major component of the sessions.
The words change and growth go hand in hand. You see, when we make positive changes we grow personally. When we don’t change we end up stagnant, bored, unmotivated and frustrated. And because we haven’t made changes we then don’t experience any growth….boredom, frustration & lack of motivation could then lead to a whole host of other issues such as anxiety and depression.
At some stage in our life we all need to embrace change for our own growths sake.
What is it that you need to change?
Perhaps you need to change your attitude & the words you use towards your spouse or kids?
Maybe you need to change jobs?
Maybe you need to change your perspective and attitude?
Maybe you need to change the food you eat?
Maybe you need to change your attitude from insecure to confident?
Maybe you need to change your lifestyle and start making new choices?
Maybe you need to change the outfits you wear (great …book in a styling session with me!)
Whatever it is you need to do, I encourage you to embrace the change. Don’t use all your energy tyring to fight change as that is just too exhausting! Trust me, I know from firsthand experience!
With change comes personal growth and with growth comes health – healthy attitudes, healthy relationships, healthy mindsets, healthy bodies…healthy everything!
So friends, be encouraged today…..if it’s time for change then embrace change!
Till next time
Natt xx
